How to track liabilities

3 min read·Beginner

A liability is money your business owes, such as a loan, a tax bill or a finance agreement. Keeping a record of your liabilities helps you see the full picture and plan your cash. Here is how to track them in CRMit.

  1. Open Liability List

From the CRMit menu, select Liability List. This shows all the liabilities you are tracking.

  2. Create a liability

Choose to add a new liability. Give it a clear name so you can tell your liabilities apart at a glance.

  3. Add the amount and due date

Enter how much is owed and when it is due. This is what lets CRMit show you what is coming up.

  4. Track it against payments

As you make payments towards the liability, record them so the outstanding balance stays accurate.

  5. Mark it settled when paid

Once the liability is fully paid, mark it as settled so it drops out of what you still owe.

Tip: Record loans and tax bills as liabilities so you can plan your cash. Seeing everything you owe in one place makes it much easier to work out what you can afford and when.

What's next

With your liabilities tracked, keep an eye on the rest of your financial position too.
