How to chase overdue invoices

4 min readΒ·Beginner

Late payments hurt your cashflow, but chasing them does not have to be awkward. CRMit's dunning tools help you spot overdue invoices and send friendly reminders in a few clicks. Here is how to keep on top of what you are owed.

  1. Open Dunning

From the CRMit menu, open Dunning. This lists the invoices that are past their due date and the customers you may need to chase.

  2. Review the overdue invoices

Look through the list to see how much is overdue and by how long. Sort or filter to find the biggest or oldest debts first.

  3. Open a case

Open the dunning case for the customer you want to chase. This shows the overdue invoices and any reminders already sent.

  4. Send a reminder

Send a polite reminder to the customer. A clear, friendly nudge is often all it takes to get an invoice paid.

  5. Track the response

Keep an eye on the case to see whether the customer pays or gets in touch. When the payment lands, the invoice updates and drops off your overdue list.

  6. Escalate if needed

If an invoice stays unpaid, send a firmer follow-up reminder. Working through the steps keeps a clear record of every chase.

Tip: Consistent, polite reminders get you paid faster than the occasional stern one. Chase little and often to stay on top of your cashflow.

What's next

Once a reminder does the trick, record the payment and keep an eye on your wider customer balances.
